Hon. Reuben Izeze, is the member representing Ughelli-South Constituency in the Delta State House
of Assembly
The lawmaker was suspended for legislative misconduct and he is to stay suspended for three months.
Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere, who moved the motion for the suspension stated: "A situation in which lawmakers are called Honourable members but act in dishonourable manners leave much to be desired. I hereby move that this honourable House do now suspend Hon. Reuben Izeze, member representing Ughelli South for three months for attempting to bring the dignity of this House to disrepute,” without giving details of what constituted the dishonourable behaviour.
The motion was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Okoh Festus, (Ika South), and when the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya put the motion for suspension forward, the ayes had it and the Speaker declared Hon. Reuben Izeze suspended for three months with immediate effect.
However, there are feelers from the House of Assembly that Izeze’s suspension may not be unconnected with last week’s failed impeachment plot against the Speaker, Hon. Monday Igbuya.
Recall that Hon. Igbuya survived an impeachment attempt which was rumoured to have been masterminded by Hon. Izeze but for the quick intervention of the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa who saved the Speaker's neck.
It should be noted that Hon. Izeze has a Constituency Briefing/Townhall meeting slated for June 23rd 2016.
