He was shot in the hand, beaten on the head and back with machetes and baton, pliers were used to
pull out his finger and toe nails and then charged with stealing three mobile phones.
Finally, Moses was forced to sign two pre-written 'confessions' to robbery under duress, which formed the sole basis of his conviction in 2014.
Amnesty International launched a Save Moses Petition in 2014 and called on Governor Uduaghan of Delta State — where Moses was on death row— to overturn his death sentence in the lead up to Independence Day which is when death sentences are overturned.
Following both national and international outcry concerning Moses, Governor Uduaghan assured last year that, “the process of releasing Moses is on course”.
Yesterday, May 27th, 2015, in a final show of mercy before his handover to Sen. Okowa, Governor Uduaghan pardoned Moses. See post below:
