THE DEVELOPING STORY: OAU student attempted flushing a baby down Moremi's toilet

Controversy has continued to trail the story of a helpless newborn delivered in a toilet in Moremi's toilet in OAU Wednesday, 19th, June. The mother,  Oyinlola Rotimi, a 400L female student of Agric Engineering, OAU, was said to have delivered and attempted to flush a baby down Moremi's toilet like yesterday's sour meal before
she was caught by cleaners and the hall warden.
She was said to have locked herself in a toilet in Moremi Block A. Luck ran out on her when a cleaner who saw blood coming from the toilet called out to whoever was inside the toilet and when she got no reply, ran to call other cleaners and the hall warden who forced the door opened. According to eye-witness report,

" We saw the baby, a boy,  turned upside down when the door opened, his head in the closet. one of the cleaners immediately removed him from the toilet. The baby was still breathing but bleeding from the nose."

The placenta fell while the girl was being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, Head, Public Relations Unit, OAU, who confirmed the happening yesterday said, " The baby and the mother survived and have both been taken to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital, OAUTH, for proper medical attention.

He, however cautioned that people should not jump into conclusions that the student intentionally wanted to flush the new baby down the toilet, adding that the security department was already investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The guy responsible for the pregnancy is said to be a part 4 Mechanical Engineering student and they both attend the same fellowship on campus.
