Nigeria cellular telecommunications company, MTN, has finally responded to the legal Letter of Intention sent to it by the Rockson .A. Igelige-led legal team. In the letter dated 6t August, 2015, the legal team alleged MTN of copyright infringement of four of its client's (Mr Dovie Okson Omenuwoma AKA Baba 2010's) musical used as callertunes/ringtones for over three years upon payment of N50 subscription fee. See the letter
here .
As a response, in a letter dated August 25th, MTN has asked for more time from the Rockson A. Igelige-led legal team to enable them carry out their investigations.
See copy of the letter below:
But Barr. Rockson Igelige seems not ready for any more wait for MTN : "We are ready to go to court. We are not ready to wait anymore because this infringement has gone on for three years too long. A musician gets impoverished while some company makes millions from his sweat that's being used as callertune/ ringtone".
Recall that the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) waded into the matter and invited Baba 2010's lawyers to the Commission where further details of the alleged infringement requested as reported
here and the Commission's Director of Enforcement, Mr Austin Amodu revealed plans to invite MTN over afterwards.
