Photo: Unilag First Class Student Electrocuted on Her Birthday

Miss Oluchi Anekwe, 300 level first class accounting student of the University of Lagos was electrocuted yesterday Sept. 8th, her birthday, after a high tension cable fell on her in front of the Sodeinde hall of residence in the campus.

According to reports, the young lady was on her way
from a christian fellowship along the “New Hall” bus stop when the incident happened. She was immediately rushed to the Lagos state Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Students at the scene reported that they have been witnessing some electric sparks off the cables on the same electricity pole recently on the campus but the authorities did nothing until the fatal collapse of a hightension cable that killed the student last night.

Sad that this young lady's dreams have been truncated by the gross negligence of UNILAG authorities! May her soul rest in peace.
