Emir Sanusi orders immediate release of Ese Oruru after Ben Bruce Contacted Him

Ben Murray Bruce, Senator representing Bayelsa East has contacted the Emir of Kano and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to demand the immediate
release of 14-year-old Ese Oruru, who was in August 2015, allegedly abducted in Opolo, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, by one Yunusa, who hails from Kano.

He also berated the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, for failing to rescue Ese from her abductor.

He made the following statement, “IGP Arase, Ese is a minor and cant consent to marry. The CONSTITUTION is clear. Your duty is to ensure her release to her parents”. “The CONSTITUTION of Nigeria respects no person. To pick and choose on whom it should apply is UNCONSTITUTIONAL”. “Your statement that Ese’s release is “dependent” on persons is sad. Her release is GUARANTEED by the CONSTITUTION. Ensure you free Ese”

"If you refuse to enforce the Nigerian CONSTITUTION this matter will be escalated to The United Nations Commission on Human Rights”.

The emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, few hours ago, ordered the state Sharia Commission to immediately start the process of repatriating and reuniting the 14-year-old teenager, Ese Oruru, allegedly abducted by one Yunusa, forcefully converted to Islam and married off, with her family.

He directed that the repatriation should be done in partnership with the office of the Deputy Inspector General of police, zone 1.

The Emir had originally distanced himself and the Kano emirate council from the purported abduction of Ese who was taken from Bayelsa to Kano by Yunusa.

“I have ordered the sharia commission to liaise with the office of Deputy Inspector General of police zone to repatriate and reconcile the teenager with her family immediately” .

Recall that Ese, who was 13 as at the time of her alleged abduction, was taken to Kano, by Yunusa, where he converted her to Islam and married her.
Ese’s parents had since last August made trips to Kano, where they unravelled the plights of their daughter. The parents said they have involved the police, but efforts to get the Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, at whose palace the girl is believed to be held to resolve the matter and ensure the return of the 14-year-old to them, have proved futile until Ben Bruce contacted him earlier today.

While her mother was told that Ese had converted to Islam and, therefore, was no longer her daughter, her father was told that his daughter was an 18-year-old adult and not 14, hence she was capable of making decisions for herself.

    1. Not so surprising, her pregnancy, with the all-new fierce look of hers compared to what we had pre-abduction
