Lawyer Gets Court to RESTRAIN Okowa's SSA From Resigning as Youth President

Barr. Rockson A. Igelige

Hon. Egbo Victor
Barrister Rockson A. Igelige, from Oleh in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State has got an Order of Interim Injunction restraining Mr Victor Egbo aka Last Mugu, the President General of Isoko National Youth Assembly (INYA), from resigning from the position.

This Order stands pending the outcome of a case brought before the High Court sitting in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government, to determine the validity period of the elected Youth President's tenure in office and how he could be asked to resign.

Lately, controversy has trailed the Isoko National Youth Assembly (INYA) which is the Youth wing of Isoko Development Union (IDU) because the elected President General of the youth body, Hon. Egbo
Victor, also doubles as the appointed Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Youth and Community Development.

According to Barrister Rockson, "They accused the Isoko youth leader of acting ultra-vires and being greedy by refusing to relinquish power upon his well deserved appointment by the State Governor. They forget that immediately after his appointment as the Governor's Aide, a meeting with the Isoko Development Union, the Isoko National Youth Assembly and other stakeholders in Isoko was held where it was unanimously agreed that the efficient Hon. Egbo Victor should remain the youth president while the vice president acts on his behalf until his presence is required on an important issue".

Order Of Interim Injuction
Jovoflavour however gathered that the recent controversy rocking the youth body that led to the lawyer going to court started after DESOPADEC released 20million naira to the youth body in December and the President General collected just 4million out of the total sum after the body has rejected the paltry sum offered them by some powers that be.

This action of his reportedly led to fresh calls on his resignation and a 27-man executive of the youth body allegedly impeached him following a petition forwarded to them by a group called "CONCERNED ISOKO YOUTHS".

In the heat of the  'I no go gree' that followed his alleged impeachment and consequent installation of his first vice president as the new President, the IDU President General, Chairmen of Isoko North and South as well as other stakeholders waded in to broker peace between the warring factions.

In the meeting held on 11th February, 2016, at Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area, it was resolved that Mr Victor Egbo should resign as President General of the Youth body by the end of March for the sake of peace. A deal he graciously accepted.

But the lawyer feels that that deal was an obvious arm-twisting and took to the Court to get the Order of Interim Injunction which also restrains the IDU leadership as well as the Isoko South and North Chairmen from forcing the elected President General Victor Egbo to resign.

Hear him, " IDU is a registered body with the CAC, Abuja. Their constitution with the CAC stipulates the way by which a President General could be asked to resign and the only way is by deciding in a General Meeting of the IDU. Can we call the meeting where Hon. Egbo Victor was asked to resign a General Meeting of the IDU? It is therefore illegal."
